INFORMATION

Description

A Biological solution for the suppression of butterfly and moth larvae (caterpillars)

A Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki (Btk) strain SA-11 water-dispersible granule (WG) formulation for the suppression of various lepidopteran (butterfly and moth) larvae on crops as indicated

This product is the organic gardener's best friend, as you are using a naturally occurring bacterium to eradicate most common garden pests that occur in larval form. It features an extensive Cry toxin profile and potency factors, making it faster-acting and more effective than standard Bt products

Mode of Action -

Upon ingestion by the target larvae, the unique crystalline proteins (Cry toxins) within Delfin® WG are dissolved by specific gut enzymes that only function in the highly alkaline (pH 10) environment of the caterpillar's digestive tract. This process activates the endotoxin, which binds to specific receptors and inserts into the midgut cell membrane. This opens pores, causing osmotic shock, paralysis of the midgut, and septicaemia, causing the pest to immediately stop eating and die.

Use of beneficial organisms -

Introducing highly beneficial, target-specific bacteria to your pest management program to biologically target destructive pests without disrupting the surrounding ecosystem

Environmental compatibility data:

Delfin® WG is non-toxic, non-GMO, OMRI listed, and carries no withholding period (MRL limit), making it completely safe for organic growing programs, beneficial non-target insects (like bees and predators), and the surrounding environment. Because of its highly specific mode of action, it targets only lepidopteran larvae, ensuring zero chemical residues and making it an exceptional tool for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and resistance management programs.

Benefits

  • Target-Specific Control: Highly effective against a wide range of destructive lepidopteran larvae, including Caterpillar, African bollworm, Tomato leaf miner (Tuta absoluta), and Citrus flower moth.

  • Rapid Feeding Cessation: Affected pests stop damaging crops almost immediately after ingestion due to rapid gut disruption.

  • Zero Withholding Period: Crops can be harvested immediately after application, ensuring total flexibility during harvest cycles.

  • Biological Solution: Offers a completely unique biological mode of action compared to synthetic chemical insecticides, preventing pest resistance.

  • Ecosystem Friendly: Completely safe for applicators, consumers, birds, soil organisms, and beneficial predatory insects
