The “lightweight” filter from Can-Filters. Literally speaking that is performance wise an absolute heavyweight. Thanks to its lightweight carbon, the Lite-filters are more practical and easy to use and they have a minimum lifespan of 18 months.

The removable pre-filter can be hand-rinsed when necessary and the carbon is refillable.

 

Why use Carbon filters? 

Carbon Filters help to neutralize smells and odours, as well as remove 99% of dangerous VOC's, making it a great addition to your growroom or greenhouse. 

One of the most common concerns when growing indoors or in a greenhouse is odour and smell control. When attached to your outake, air from your grow space is vented through the carbon filter, leaving no trace of smell behind. 

When attached to your intake, Carbon Filters will remove 99% of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) which prevents air prone plant diseases in your grow space. It will also trap larger particles like micro hairs, however Carbon Filters will not help with pollen or powdery mildew as the particles are too small.

 

How It Works

Carbon filters are made from various types of porous materials as well as activated carbon. Carbon or charcoal is a naturally absorbent material because of how porous it is and when activated it is one of the most porous materials on earth. It is used to filter air and water and can absorb most materials, though works best with natural and organic elements.

Activated carbon is made using different types of wood and fruit castings like bamboo, coconut husk, willow peat, wood and coir. These castings are first carbonized at temperatures over 400°C and are then treated again at over 800°C while being treated with vapor to open up micro-pores and increase absorption rates.

Can Filters are filled with the best quality Carbon; Pelletized or Granulated Carbon. Active Carbon is a specially treated type of Carbon and is very suitable for air filtration. Good to know: At Can Filters, they never try to save on the amount of carbon. The more Carbon a filters contains the better it is at filtering.
